AI Policy

This policy outlines the responsible and transparent use of Artificial Intelligence in scholarly publishing.

Our Commitment

BJFR recognizes that Artificial Intelligence tools may support scholarly work when used responsibly, transparently, and with appropriate human oversight.

  • We support the responsible use of AI tools that enhance scholarly quality without compromising integrity.
  • Authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted content.
  • Any use of AI in manuscript preparation, analysis, or writing must be disclosed transparently.
  • AI must not replace human judgment in research design, data interpretation, authorship, or peer review.

This policy aligns with current guidance from COPE and ICMJE .

Permitted Use of AI

Language Improvement

Grammar and clarity editing with human verification of meaning.

Data Analysis

Statistical or visualization support when authors validate all outputs.

Literature Search

Finding relevant sources that authors independently review and cite.

Code Assistance

Drafting or debugging code with full author verification.

Prohibited Use of AI

Fabrication

Inventing data, results, or citations not obtained through research.

Plagiarism

Reproducing third-party text without attribution or permission.

Authorship Misrepresentation

Listing AI as an author or hiding substantive AI contributions.

Peer Review Interference

Using AI on confidential manuscripts or reviews without disclosure.

Author Responsibilities

  • Disclose all AI tools used, including the tool name, version, and purpose of use.
  • Verify every AI-assisted output for accuracy, bias, and appropriate attribution.
  • Ensure AI use complies with data privacy, copyright, and institutional ethics requirements.
  • Accept full responsibility for the final manuscript, figures, and supplementary materials.
